SIGNS IT’S TIME TO LEAVE YOUR JOB
Brendan Kraft
  1. You lack passion. The motivation you once had for the role and the company has dwindled away. You no longer feel the excitement of contributing to the company.
  2. You’re miserable every morning. Just the thought of going into work makes you hit the snooze button 5 times until you’re late and have no choice but to now rush out the door without eating.
  3. Your company is sinking. You’ve noticed that business has been going down significantly, and/or they are already laying people off.
  4. You really dislike the people you work with and/or your boss. Sometimes people are just miserable and impossible to work with and they want to make everyone around them miserable. There’s just no winning with them, and they make your job harder to do well.
  5. You’re consistently stressed, negative, and/or unhappy at work. Do you find yourself wanting to crawl under your desk in fetal position? Well that’s a good sign it’s time to go.
  6. Your work-related stress is affecting your physical health. You’re so stressed and have so much anxiety that you’re up at night, and have nightmares. If you find that the stress is now impacting your personal life in a negative way it’s time to plan your escape asap.
  7. Your work performance is suffering. If you’re no longer productive at work, even though you’re capable of performing the task(s).
  8.  You no longer have good work-life balance. When you find that you’re spending less time with your family because of work and you constantly have to cancel your weekend plans because you have to work, it’s time to start looking for something new.
  9.  You’re bored and stagnating at your job. If you’re not growing or learning anything new, it might be time to leave when you’ve outgrown the position and there is no opportunity for advancement–or you seem to work the same job day in, day out without any opportunity for growth, even though you crave more–it’s time to get out.
  10. If you’re severely underpaid and you know it- You consistently get calls from recruiters telling you about opportunities at your level that pay drastically more than you earn. People you know at your level are earning way more than you in your industry.
